Secondary Schools Graduation Criteria
This document was developed by the Ministry of Education in an effort to increase the options for the required competencies for students graduating from secondary schools. The document captures the intent of the National Curriculum in expanding opportunities for students to participate in diverse specialties, discipline and subject area during their secondary school education. In addition to providing opportunities for recognition of students' academic performance at secondary school, the criteria for graduation also recognise students' school and community life, conduct and deportment and co-curricular activities. The result of this initiative is the provision of greater opportunities for a larger proportion of students to graduate from Secondary School. The guidelines for graduation were prepared and reviewed with input from a committee of secondary school principals as well as officers from the Ministry of Education. The graduation criteria are intended to span over the final two years of students' secondary education (4th and 5th Form) and to guide the identification of students for graduation from secondary schools.
